ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद चंद्रमा की विनती सुनकर तथा उसकी दीनता देखकर मुझे दया आ गई तब मैंने उसे यह कहा हे चंद्रमा तीनों लोकों में प्रसिद्ध जो सौराष्ट्र देश है वह प्रभास क्षेत्र में शिव जी अपने पूर्ण आज से विराजमान रहते हैं यह स्थान शिवजी को अत्यंत प्रिय है वह तपस्या करने से संपूर्ण पाप तथा दोष नष्ट हो जाते हैं आज तो तुम वही जाकर शिवलिंग की स्थापना करो तथा उत्तर माता सामग्री द्वारा उनका पूजन करो सब प्रकार से छल कपट त्याग योग धारण कर शिवजी का ध्यान धरता और अपने मनोरथ पूर्ण होने का निश्चय करके उसे प्रेम में लगे रहना उसे समय तुम्हारा यह रोड नष्ट हो जाएगा शिवजी की भक्ति द्वारा बहुत से लोगों ने मृत्यु को जीत लिया है तथा बड़े-बड़े पापोंस ने मुक्ति प्राप्त की है आज तो तुम्हारा कष्ट अभी अवश्य दूर होगा हे नारद मेरे वचन सुनकर चंद्रमा तुरंत ही प्रभात क्षेत्र में जा पहुंचे वहां उसने शिवलिंग की स्थापना कर 6 माह तक कठिन तक किया तब उसकी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर शिवजी प्रगति हुई और वरदान मांगने की आज्ञा दी उसे समय चंद्रमा ने उन्हें प्रणाम करके स्तुति करते हुए यह कहा है प्रभु आप मेरे छह रोग को दूर कर देंगे तथा यह वर्क दे दिए मुझे आपकी भक्ति सदैव प्राप्त हो चंद्रमा की प्रार्थना सुनकर शिवजी ने उत्तर दिया है चंद्रमा दक्ष का श्राप पूर्ण रूप से तो नष्ट नहीं हो सकता पर हम तुम्हें वार देते हैं कि तुम प्रति मास्क क्रम अनुसार घटा बढ़ा करोगे और संसार में सूर्यास्त प्राप्त करोगे शिवजी कि इस आजा को शिरोधारा करते हुए चंद्रमा ने फिर कहा हे प्रभु आप ली रूप होकर इस स्थान पर स्थित हो जाएंगे और अपनी शक्ति को भी यही प्रतिष्ठित करने की कृपा करेंगे इस समय चंद्रमा शिवजी से यह प्रार्थना कर रहा था उसे समय में तथा विष्णु जी भी वहां जा पहुंचे और चंद्रमा की इच्छा अनुसार यह कहने वालों की शिवजी आप चंद्रमा की प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर उसे स्थान पर शक्ति सहित लिंग रूप से अवश्य प्रतिष्ठित हो हे नारद तब हम लोगों की प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर शिवजी अपने पूर्ण अंश से गिरजा सहित इस स्थान पर प्रतिष्ठित हो गए उसे समय हम सब लोग में उसे सोमेश्वर शिवलिंग की पूजा करके अत्यंत उत्साह मनाया है नारद उसे सोमेश्वर लिंग की महिमा महत्व है सोमेश्वर शिवलिंग जहां स्थापित है उसी के स्वामी भी चंद्रमा का बनाया हुआ एक कुंड है उसे कुंड में जो मनुष्य स्थान करता है उसके सभी मनोरथ पूर्ण होते हैं सोमेश्वर शिवलिंग का या चरित्र अध्ययन आनंद प्रदान करने वाला है देवता ऋषि मुनि वेद तथा पुराण इस बात को एक स्वर से ही कहते हैं कि सोमेश्वर शिवलिंग का पूजन करने से आवागमन का भाई नहीं रहता जो मनुष्य इस चरित्र को सुनता अथवा सुनता है उसे पर भी शिवजी अत्यंत कृपा करते हैं

Brahma Ji said, O Narada, after hearing the request of Chandrama and seeing his helplessness, I felt pity. Then I told him, O Chandrama, Saurashtra country which is famous in all the three worlds, in Prabhas area, Shiva resides in his full glory. This place is very dear to Shiva. By doing penance there, all sins and faults are destroyed. Today you go there and establish Shivling and worship him with Uttar Mata materials. Reject all deceit and fraud, adopt yoga and meditate on Shiva and decide to fulfill your desire and keep on loving him. In that time, your trouble will be destroyed. By the devotion of Shiva, many people have conquered death and have got salvation from big sins. Today, your trouble will definitely go away. O Narada, after listening to my words, Chandrama immediately reached Prabhat area. There he established Shivling and did it for 6 months. Then Shiva was pleased with his penance and allowed him to ask for a boon. At that time, Chandrama bowed to him and praised him and said, Lord, you will remove my six diseases and give me this work. May I always receive your devotion, on hearing the prayer of the moon, Shivji replied that the curse of moon Daksh cannot be completely destroyed, but we give you the boon that you will increase and decrease according to the order of every month and will get sunset in the world. While doing Shirodhara of this blessing of Shivji, the moon again said, O Lord, you will settle at this place in the form of a linga and will also bless to establish your power here. At this time the moon was praying to Shivji, at that time Vishnu ji also reached there and according to the wish of the moon, he said that Shivji, you accept the prayer of the moon and establish yourself in the form of a linga along with power at that place. O Narad, then accepting our prayers, Shivji established himself at this place with his full part along with the linga. At that time all of us celebrated with great enthusiasm by worshipping Someshwar Shivling. Narad said that the glory of Someshwar Linga is very important. Where Someshwar Shivling is established, its owner is also a pond made by the moon. The person who places his idol in that pond, all his wishes are fulfilled. This character study of Someshwar Shivling is joy-giving. Gods, sages, saints, Vedas and Puranas say in one voice that by worshipping Someshwar Shivaling, one does not have to go through the cycle of birth and death. The person who listens to this story or hears it, Lord Shiva bestows his blessings on him.
