ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद अब मैं पश्चिम दिशा की शिवलिंगों का वर्णन करता हूं उनका पूजन दर्शन तथा स्मरण करने से सुख संपत्ति यकृति संतान आदि की प्राप्ति होती है आप तुम उसे लिंगो का वृतांत सुनो हे नारद द्रव पद पुरी में रामेश्वरम नमक शिवलिंग विराजमान है वहां कालेश्वर नमक दूसरा शिवलिंग भी है यह दोनों लिंग अपने भक्तों को आनंद प्रदान करते हैं मधु पूरी अर्थात मथुरा में गोपेश्वर नमक शिवलिंग है उसकी पूजन करके गोपियों ने अत्यंत सुख प्राप्त किया था श्री कृष्ण जी ने भी गोपेश्वर शिवलिंग का पूजन करके तीनों लोक का राज पाया था वह रंगेश्वर नमक दूसरा शिवलिंग है या दोनों लिंग अपने भक्तों का कल्याण करने वाले हैं काव्य कुनबाज अर्थात कन्नौज की समीप महादेश्वर नमक शिवलिंग है इसके दर्शन मात्र से ही संपूर्ण पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं द्वारिका पुरी में द्वारिकेश्वर नामक शिवलिंग है हे नारद अब मैं उन लिंगो का वर्णन करता हूं जिनकी महिमा तीनों लोक में प्रसिद्ध है पश्चिमी समुद्र के तट पर गांव कारण नमक एवं तीर्थ है उसका स्मरण करने मात्र से ही तीनों प्रकार के पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं संसार में पापों को नष्ट करने वाला गोकर्ण तीर्थ के समान अन्य कोई तीर्थ नहीं है अन्य स्थानों में करोड़ों वर्ष तक तपस्या करने से जो फल प्राप्त होता है वही फल गांव कारण तीर्थ में एक दिन तपस्या करने से ही प्राप्त हो जाता है हे नारद ऐसे परम पुनीत गोकर्ण क्षेत्र में महाबल नमक शिव जी का लिंग स्थापित है उसे लिंक का स्पर्श रावण भी नहीं कर पाया था उसे लिंग की स्थापना गणपति ने की है महाकाल शिव जी का मंदिर स्वर्ण तथा रतन से अलंकृत है हे नारद सब देवता शिव जी को अपनी पूजा सेवा तथा उत्सव द्वारा प्रसन्न किया करते हैं चित्रसेन तथा विश्व वासवादी सभी गंधर्व मा बाल लिंग का प्रतिदिन गुणगान करते हैं पूर्व चित्र मेनका गणित तथा आरंभ आदि अप्सराय अपने नृत्य द्वारा महाबल शिवजी को प्रसन्न करती है महाबली सर्वोपरि है सब देवता एवं मन आई ऋषि उसकी सेवा करते हैं प्रणाम करते हैं तथा अपने नृत्य गान द्वारा प्रसन्नता प्रदान करते हैं हे नारद मा बाल सब देवताओं के स्वामी हैं इसके अतिरिक्त और भी करोड़ शिवलिंग तथा तीर्थपुर क्षेत्र में है जिनकी सेवा द्वारा बड़े-बड़े पाप तथा कष्ट दूर हो जाते हैं वहां पर लिंग के दर्शन से ब्रह्म हत्या जैसे पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं तथा दोनों लोक में सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है उसे गोकर्ण क्षेत्र में अगस्त जी ने तब किया था संकडिक ने भी वहां बहुत दिनों तक तपस्या की थी ऋषि के पुत्र ने भी उसे शिवलिंग का पूजन करके राजपथ प्राप्त किया उसे स्थान पर तपस्या करके वही देखभाल दिया तथा कामदेव ने उसे क्षेत्र में तप करके संसार को अपने वश में कर लिया इस प्रकार महाबल लिंग की पूजा करके शिशु भर भद्रकाली का दो मुख्य नाग इलाहाबाद गरुड़ रावण कुंभकरण तथा विभीषण आदि से सैकड़ो व्यक्तियों ने अपने मनोरथ को प्राप्त किया है हम उसे लिंग की महिमा का वर्णन कहां तक करेंगे

Brahma Ji said, O Narada, now I describe the Shivlings of the western direction. By worshipping, seeing and remembering them, one gets happiness, wealth, liver, children etc. You listen to the story of those lingas, O Narada. In Dravapad Puri, a Shivling named Rameshwaram is situated. There is another Shivling named Kaleshwar there. Both these lingas give joy to their devotees. In Madhu Puri, that is, Mathura, there is a Shivling named Gopeshwar. By worshipping it, the Gopis got immense happiness. Shri Krishna also got the rule of all the three worlds by worshipping the Gopeshwar Shivling. That is another Shivling named Rangeshvar. Or both the lingas do good to their devotees. There is a Shivling named Mahadev near Kavya Kunbaj, that is, Kannauj. By just seeing it, all sins are destroyed. In Dwarka Puri, there is a Shivling named Dwarikeshwar. O Narada, now I describe those lingas whose glory is famous in all the three worlds. There is a village named Karan and a pilgrimage on the coast of the western sea. By just remembering it, all the three types of sins are destroyed. Gokarna Tirtha is the only sin-destroyer in the world. There is no other pilgrimage like this. The fruits that are obtained by doing penance for crores of years at other places, the same fruits can be obtained by doing penance for one day at Gaon Karan Tirtha. O Narada, in such a sacred Gokarna area, the Linga of Mahabal Shiv Ji is established. Even Ravan could not touch it. That Linga was established by Ganapati. The temple of Mahakal Shiv Ji is decorated with gold and gems. O Narada, all the gods please Shiv Ji by their worship, service and celebration. Chitrasen and Vishwa Vaswadi, all the Gandharvas sing praises of the Bal Linga daily. Apsaras like Purva Chitra, Menaka, Ganita and Aarambh etc. please Mahabal Shiv Ji by their dance. Mahabali is supreme. All the gods and sages serve him, salute him and give him pleasure by their dance and songs. O Narada, Bal is the master of all the gods. Apart from this, there are crores of Shivlings and Tirthpur area, by serving which big sins and troubles are removed. There, by seeing the Linga, even sins like Brahmahatya (murder of a brahmin) are destroyed and one gets siddhi in both the worlds. It is attained by Agastya ji in the Gokarna area, Sankadik also did penance there for many days, the son of the sage also got the Rajpath by worshipping that Shivaling, did penance at that place and took care of it there, and Kaamdev did penance in that area and brought the world under his control, in this way, by worshipping Mahabal Linga, Bhadrakali's two main snakes Allahabad Garuda Ravana Kumbhakaran and Vibhishan etc., hundreds of people have achieved their wishes, how far will we describe the glory of that Linga
