ब्रह्मा जी बोले हे नारद आप मैं तुमको गृहपति अवतार के विषय में बताता हूं नर्मदा नदी के तट पर नर्वापुर नामक नगर में विश्व मित्र मुनी ब्रह्मचारी शिव जी के अन्यथा भक्त रहे थे उन्होंने गृहस्थ आश्रम को ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ समझ कर चाचुस्मती नामक कन्या के साथ अपना विवाह किया हुए अपने पत्नी के साथ नित्य प्रतिदिन शिवजी का पूजन करते थे परंतु बहुत समय बीत जाने पर भी उनके कोई पुत्र उत्पन्न ना हुआ तब एक दिन उसकी पत्नी ने हाथ जोड़कर यह विनय की है स्वामी मैं आपके साथ अटो प्रकार के भोग भोगकर सदैव निश्चित बिहार किया परंतु मेरी एक इच्छा है जिसकी अभिलाष सभी गृहस्थ करते हैं अपनी पत्नी की ऐसी बात सुनकर विश्वामित्र बोले हैं देव तुम्हारी जो इच्छा हो हमसे वह वार ले लो तब स्त्री ने प्रसन्न होकर कहा है नात यदि आप प्रसन्न है तो मुझे शिवजी के समान पुत्र दीजिए या सुनकर विश्वामित्र ने शिवजी का ध्यान करके कहा तेरी इच्छा अवश्य पूर्ण होगी या कोई कठिन बात नहीं है इतना कह कर विश्वामित्र तपस्या के लिए खांसी में आए उन्होंने मलिका कड़ी का में स्नान कर विश्वनाथ की पूजा की तथा यथा विधि सब देवताओं का पूजन किया फिर उन्होंने अपने मन मे यह विचार किया कि काशी में ऐसा कौन सा शिवलिंग है जो शीघ्र ही सिद्ध प्राप्त करेगा तदुपरांत हुए विश्वेश्वर का संतान डाटा जानकर चक्र रूप के जाल में स्नान कर ईश्वर का ध्यान करने लगे 12 मास के पश्चात एक मास में केवल एक तरकारी खाकर एक मास में तिल चबाकर एक मानस में केवल पंचांग के कल्पष्ट्रिप्स करते रहे तथा एक मानस में चंद्रयान किया इस प्रकार उन्होंने 12 मार्च व्यतीत किया जब 13 महीना स्नान कर प्रातः काल विशेश्वर के निकट पहुंचे तो विशेश्वर की बीच में से एक 8 वर्ष का अत्यंत सुंदर बालक प्रगट हुआ उसका अति सुंदर गौर शरीर था वह श्वेत ब्रह्म लगाए सुंदर कैसे जो जाता के सामान लगते थे धारण किए हुए था यह सब अंगों सहित अत्यंत उत्तम वेद प्राप्त करता विश्व मंत्र की ओर देखा हुआ खड़ा हो गया हे नारद विश्व मंत्र न्यूज़ बालक को देखकर दोनों हाथ जोड़कर स्तुति की तब उसे बालक ने कहा कि मुनि तुम अपनी इच्छा अनुसार कोई वर मांगो यह सुनकर विश्व मंत्र बोले ही शिव जी आपसे कौन सी बात छिपी हुई है मेरी केवल यही विनती है कि आप मेरी इच्छा पूर्ण करें विश्वामित्र के यह वचन सुनकर शिवजी बोल ही विश्वामित्र तुम्हारी इच्छा सीख रही पूरी होगी यह कह कर वह बालक वहां से अंतर ध्यान हो गया तब शिव विश्वामित्र ने प्रसन्नता पूर्वक घर में आकर अपनी स्त्री से सब वृतांत का सुनाया उन्होंने अपनी स्त्री को शिवाजी द्वारा दिए गए वरदान का भी वर्णन किया इस समाचार को सुनकर फिर वह वहां से अपने-अपने स्थान को लौट गए

Brahma Ji said, O Narada, I am telling you about Grihapati Avatar. In a city named Narvapur on the banks of river Narmada, in which Vishwamitra Muni Brahmachari lived a great devotee of Lord Shiva, he considered the householder's life as the best and married a girl named Chachusmati. He used to worship Lord Shiva daily with his wife. But even after a long time, they did not have a son. Then one day his wife with folded hands requested that Swami, I have always enjoyed with you and have always lived a settled life, but I have one wish which all householders desire. Hearing this from his wife, Vishwamitra said, O Lord, whatever you wish for, take it from me. Then the wife got happy and said, dear brother, if you are happy, then give me a son like Lord Shiva. Hearing this, Vishwamitra meditated on Lord Shiva and said, your wish will certainly be fulfilled. It is not a difficult thing. Saying this, Vishwamitra came to the Khasi for penance. He took bath in Malika Kadhi and worshipped Vishwanath and worshipped all the gods as per the method. Then he thought in his mind that Which Shivling is there in Kashi which will soon attain Siddhi? Thereafter, knowing that Vishweshwar had a child, he started meditating on God by bathing in the net of Chakra form. After 12 months, he ate only one vegetable in one month, chewed sesame in one month, did only Panchang's Kalpastrips in one Manas and did Chandrayaan in one Manas. In this way he spent 12 March. When he reached near Vishweshwar in the morning after bathing for 13 months, from the middle of Vishweshwar, a very beautiful 8 year old boy appeared. He had a very beautiful fair body, he was wearing white Brahma and beautiful clothes which looked like a beast. He was receiving the best Vedas with all the organs. He stood looking towards Vishwa Mantra. O Narada Vishwa Mantra News seeing the boy, praised him with folded hands. Then the boy said to him that Muni, ask for any boon as per your wish. Hearing this Vishwa Mantra said, O Shiv Ji, what is hidden from you, my only request is that you fulfill my wish. Hearing these words of Vishwamitra, Shiv Ji said, O Vishwamitra yours Saying that his wish will be fulfilled, the boy went into deep meditation from there. Then Shiva Vishwamitra happily came home and narrated the whole incident to his wife. He also told his wife about the boon given by Shivaji. After hearing this news, they returned to their respective places from there.
