ब्रह्मा जी ने कहा हे नारद उसे बालक को देखकर शीला नाथ मुनि ने कहा है बालक तुमने उत्पन्न होकर मुझे अत्यंत आनंद प्राप्त दान किया है अतः तुम्हारा नाम नदी होगा तुम साक्षात शिव के स्वरूप हो वस्तु मैं तुम्हें अपनी भक्त मानता हूं इतना कह कर शीला नाथ मुनि ने उनकी चल दिए इतना कह कर शीला नाथ मुनि ने उनकी बहुत स्तुति की तदुप्रांश जब सब देवता विदा होकर अपने घर चले गए तब शिलानाथ मुनि भी नदी को साथ ले यह गिरफ्तार से उठकर अपने निवास स्थान को चल दिए इस बीच नदी ने यह चरित्र किया कि उन्होंने अपनी पहली देव को छोड़कर मनुष्य का शरीर धारण कर लिया है नारद शीला नाथ मुनि के घर जाकर नदी बालकों के समान किया करने लगे जब उनकी अवस्था 10 वर्ष की हुई तब एक दिन शिवजी किया गया से मित्रता तथा वरुण नामक दो मुनि शिलानाथ के समीप पहुंचकर यह कहने लगे यह शीला नाथ मुनि यह बालक संपूर्ण विधाओं का निधन होगा परंतु इसकी आयु बहुत कम है इतना कह कर जब वह दोनों मुनि चले गए तब शीला नाथ अत्यंत दुखी हो नदी से लिपटकर रोने लगे तथा मुर्जित होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े उसे समय नंदी ने शीला नाथ मुनि को मनुष्यों की भांति समझते हुए यह कहा मेरे पिता अब इस प्रकार व्याकुल न हो हम शिवजी की सेवा करके कल को जीत लेंगे और उसकी चिंता को दूर करेंगे इतना कहा कर नंदी पुत्र जाप करने लगे उसे जब के प्रभाव से शिवजी गिरजा सहित नदी के समीप आए और उन्हें संबोधित करते हुए इस प्रकार करने लगे इन हिंदी तुम्हें मृत्यु का कोई उपाय नहीं है तुम साक्षात मृत्युंजय हो और तीनों लोक में तुम्हें कुछ भी भाई नहीं है इतना कह कर शिवजी ने नदी के शरीर से अपने शरीर का स्पर्श कर दिया तदुपरांत उन्होंने गिरजा एवं सब गानों की ओर देखते हुए यह कहा है प्रिया जानू यह नंदीश्वर मृत्यु से रहित होकर मेरे समान ही बलवान होता तथा मेरे पास रहकर मुझे बहुत प्रिया होगा इतना कह कर शिवजी ने अपनी माल नदी के कंठ में पहना दी तब नदी इस समय तीन नेत्र तथा 10 भुजा धारी शिव जी के समान स्वरूप रूपवान हो गए उसे समय शिव जी ने नदी का हाथ पकड़ कर अपनी जाता के ऊपर से थोड़ा सा पानी छोड़ दिया उसे पानी से अनेक नदिया बहने लगी

Meanwhile, the river did this act that it left its first divine form and took the form of a human. Narada went to Sheela Nath Muni's house and started behaving like a child. When he was 10 years old, one day he befriended Lord Shiva and two sages named Varun reached near Shila Nath and said, this Sheela Nath Muni, this child will be the master of all the sciences, but his life span is very short. Saying this, when both the sages left, then Sheela Nath became very sad and started crying while hugging the river and fell down on the earth, dejected. When Nandi fell down, understanding Sheela Nath Muni as a human being, he said, my father should not be worried like this now, we will win tomorrow by serving Lord Shiva and will remove his worries, saying this, Nandi's son started chanting, due to the effect of which Lord Shiva came near the river along with Girja and while addressing them, he said, there is no way of death for you, you are Mrityunjay himself and you have no brother in the three worlds, saying this, Lord Shiva touched his body with the body of the river, after that he looked towards Girja and all the girls and said, dear darling, this Nandishwar would become as strong as me by being free from death and would be very dear to me by staying near me, saying this, Lord Shiva put his garland around the neck of the river, then the river became as beautiful as Lord Shiva with three eyes and ten arms. At that time, Lord Shiva held the hand of the river and released some water from his neck, many rivers started flowing from that water.
