श्रीमद् भागवत कथा पुराण नवा स्कंध अध्याय 22 आरंभ

देवदास का वर्णन श्री सुखदेव जी बोले हे राजा परीक्षित मुकदर के पुत्र 210 हुए थे उधर से मृत्यु हुए उन्हीं के वश में राजा द्रुपद नामक प्रतापी राजा हुआ राजा द्रुपद के पुत्र दृष्टांत झुमरा और शिखंडी थे तथा पुत्री तिरुपति थी स्वयंवर में मत्स्यफेद कर तुम्हारे पितामह अर्जुन ने द्रोपदी को प्राप्त किया तत्पश्चात वहां पांडवों की पत्नी कहलाई राजा द्रुपद के पुत्र धृतराष्ट्र धूम में महाभारत के महायुद्ध में अपनी तलवार से द्रोणाचार्य का सिर काटा था हे राजन अजमेर के पुत्र रिच थे रिच से श्रवण हुए जिन्होंने सूर्य कन्या तपसी से विवाह कर पूर्व नामक पुत्र की उत्पन्न की उसी से कौरव वंश चला इसी वंश में वृंदा नामक एक शक्तिशाली राजा हुआ उन्होंने दो विवाह की एक रानी के गर्व से उत्साह व नामक बालक की उत्पत्ति हुई किंतु दूसरे रहनी संतान इंद्र रही तब राजा ने एक ऋषि द्वारा पुत्र हेतु प्रदान किया गया एक गूलर का फल लगाकर अपनी दूसरी रानी को दिया गूलर का फल में जुड़े होने की भावना से रानी ने उस पल को चीर कर दो भागों में कर दिया तत्पश्चात फल खा गई फल चीर कर खाने से जो बालक उत्पन्न हुआ वह दो भाग में था जैसे उसका बालक को चीर कर दो भाग में कर दिया गया हो राजा ने उसे बाहर लिखवा दिया वही जरा नामक की राक्षसी रहती थी उसने उस दो टुकड़े में फेंके गए बालक को जोड़ दिया या देखकर राजा अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और जरा राक्षसी के हाथ से जुड़ने के कारण राजा ने बालक का नाम जरा संत रख दिया वह अत्यंत महाबली एवं प्रतापी हुआ हे राजा परीक्षित तुम्हारी दादा भीमसेन ने भगवान श्री कृष्ण द्वारा 13 का चीरघर संकेत द्वारा बनाएं जाने पर जरासंध को चीर कर मार डाला जरासंध का पुत्र सहदेव हुआ सहदेव से देव की उत्पत्ति हुई उसने राजा का आज त्याग कर वन में जाकर प्रभु के चरणों में अपना ध्यान लगा दिया देवा pk1 प्रस्थान करने के बाद संतानों राजा हुए राजा शांतनु की स्त्री गंगा में शेर देवव्रत नामक पुत्र की उत्पत्ति हुई जिन्होंने अपनी दूसरी माता सत्यवती के कारण महान प्रतिज्ञा किया उसी भीषण प्रतिज्ञा के कारण देवव्रत का नाम भीष्मा पड़ा जो बाद में भीष्म पितामह के नाम से विख्यात हुआ राजा शांतनु की दूसरी स्त्री सत्यवती के गर्व से चित्र एवं विचित्र वीर नामक दो पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए एक बार शिकार खेलने के लिए चित्रांगद वन में गए और गंधर्व के हाथों मिलती वह प्राप्त हुआ उस काल बाद भीष्मा ने अपने पराक्रम से काशी नरेश की 3 पुत्रियां को छीन कर ले आए जिसमें अंबिका एवं अंबालिका का विवाह विचित्रवीर्य से कर दिया किंतु अमन नाम की कन्या अपने मन में राजा साल वर्ष की इच्छा रखती थी विचित्रवीर्य ने उसे जाने दिया किंतु अंबिका और अंबिका बलिक से अत्यधिक प्रतीत करने लगऔर नित्य भोग विलास में लिप्त रहते जिस कारण उन्हें क्षय रोग हो गया क्षय रोग होने से विचित्रवीर्य की मृत्यु हो गई वह संतान इन थे तब माता सत्यवती ने अपने वंश को चलाने के लिए पाराशर द्वारा उत्पन्न किए गए अपने पुत्र वेदव्यास को बुलाया वेदव्यास जी ने आए और सत्यवती से बोले हे माता मेरे लिए किया गया है जब सत्यवती बोली हे पुत्र तुम विचित्रवीर्य के दोनों स्त्रियों से 1-1 पुत्र उत्पन्न करो वेदवास ने कहा हे माते विचित्रवीर्य के दोनों स्त्रियां मेरे सम्मुख नग्न होकर आए मेरे देखने मात्र से वह दोनों गर्भवती हो जाएंगे सत्यवती के कहने पर वह दोनों नग्न होकर वेदव्यास जी के सम्मुख गए किंतु लज्जा के कारण अंबिका ने अपनी आंखें बंद कर लिया और अंबिका अपनी शरीर पर पीली मिट्टी लगाकर गई उसी समय भी अधूरा नामक की दासी नग्न होकर हंसती हुई उनके सामने से निकल गई अंबिका के गर्भ से आंख बंद करने के कारण जन्म में अंधे दृष्ट राष्ट्र हुए पीली मिट्टी लगने से अंबालिका के गर्भ से पांडु और दासी विधुरा के गर्भ से महा ज्ञानी एवं हरि भक्त विदुर हुए उपर्युक्त कथा सुनने के पश्चात श्री सुखदेव जी बोले हे राजा परीक्षित दृष्ट राष्ट्र की पत्नी गांधारी के गर्व से दुर्योधन हदीस और पुत्र तथा दुशाला नामांक की कन्या उत्पन्न हुई राजा पांडव के दो रानियां हुई कुंती एवं मात्री कुंती के गर्व से देवता धर्म के आशीर्वाद से युधिष्ठिर वायु देवता से भीमसेन देवराज इंद्र के आशीर्वाद से अर्जुन उत्पन्न हुए तथा माधुरी के गर्व से अश्वनी कुमार के आशीर्वाद से नकुल सहदेव की उत्पत्ति हुई शराब के कारण राजा पांडु हिस्ट्री संवाद नहीं कर सकते थे इसी कारण उनके पांचों पुत्र देवताओं के आशीर्वाद से उत्पन्न हुए तब राजा परीक्षित ने कहा हे महात्मा ऋषि ने राजा पांडु को क्यों श्राप दिया राजा परीक्षित के वचनों को सुनकर श्री सुखदेव जी बोले हे राजन् एक बार एक ऋषि एवं उसकी स्त्री लाजवाब हिरण एवं गिरणी का स्वरूप धारण कर रतिक्रिया कर रहे थे उसी समय शिकार खेलते हुए राजा पांडु पहुंचे और अपनी बहन से हिरण रूपी ऋषि को मार दिया तब ऋषि पत्नी अत्यधिक व्याकुल हुई और क्रोधित होकर बोली अरे दुष्ट राजा मेरे स्वामी ने तेरा क्या बिगाड़ा था तूने हमारे स्वामी की हत्या 100 वर्क करते समय की इसलिए मैं तुम्हें श्राप देती हूं कि तू जिस समय अपनी स्त्री से बहुत करेगा उसी समय तेरी मृत्यु हो जाएगी राजा पांडे के पांचों पुत्र पांडव कहलाए अपने इस तिरुपति से प्रतिबद्धता श्री सेन स्वीकृत सत सूक कर्म नामक 5 पुत्र हुए धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर की दूसरी स्त्री पूर्वी से देवक भीमसेन की दूसरी स्त्री हिडिंबा से घटोत्कच नकुल की दूसरी स्त्री करुणा मती से नर मित्र सहदेव की दूसरी स्त्री विजया के गर्व से सुपुत्र तथा अर्जुन की दूसरी स्त्री सुभद्रा के गर्व से अभिमन्यु तथा अर्जुन की तीसरी स्त्री नागकन्या उलूपी से ब्राह्मण वाहन एवं इरावान नामक दो पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए राजा परीक्षित अर्जुन की पत्नी सुभद्रा के गर्व से तुम्हारे पिता अभिमन्यु और अभिमन्यु की पत्नी उत्तरा के गर्भ से तुम्हारा जन्म हुआ जब तुम माता के गर्भ में थे तुम्हारा नाश करने के लिए अश्वत्थामा ने ब्रह्मास्त्र चलाया था किंतु भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने तुम्हें बचा लिया हे राजन तक्षक सर्प के काटने से तुम्हारी मृत्यु होगी यह निश्चित है तब बदला लेने के लिए तुम्हारा पुत्र जन्म आए जय सर्वदा यज्ञ करेगा जिससे सभी सर्प जलकर भस्म हो जाएंगे हे राजन तुम्हारी मृत्यु के पश्चात तुम्हारे वंश में बहुत से ज्ञानी विद्वान एवं प्रतापी राजा होंगे कई पीढ़ियों के बाद नैमिष चक्र राजा होगा और हस्तिनापुर की गंगा में जाने से वह कोसांबी पूरी में जाकर राज करेगा
